100 years of scouting

How it all started
Baden-Powell had a Kudu horn from South Africa. The 1st of August 1907 he blew his horn and that’s how the first scout camp ever started, at Brownsea Island, England. That horn stroke was also the start for a rapidly growing movement. Today there are 38 million members, boys and girls, in 168 countries.

One World One Promise
In 2007 we celebrate 100 years of Scouting, all around the world. Scouts and guides worldwide chose the same annual theme ‘One World One Promise’. World brotherhood and peace will be the main topics. As an international youth movement, Scouting and Guiding will use these topics to make its mission "to let children and young persons grow up in a democratic and fair world" visible, audible and tangible.

Typically Belgian

In Belgium the 5 Scout and Guide federations (160000 members) are working closely together to make this year an awesome party, all over the country, in every language.
